Cheshire & Wirral Raptor Study Group

The Cheshire and Wirral Raptor Study Group (CWRSG) aims to further knowledge and protection of birds of prey and owls in the county of Cheshire and Wirral.

The population of raptors and owls are dynamic with some of the most familiar species (Kestrel, Little Owl and Tawny Owl) suffering significant declines. Whilst on the other hand, other species (Buzzard, Marsh Harrier, and Hobby) have made a remarkable return.

Both trends present different problems, human conflict for some and local extinctions for others.

The CWRSG aims to gather more detailed information on the distribution and breeding performance of raptors and owls across the region, and this is where you can help! Please contact us with any raptor records you have as it will help strengthen our understanding.

Please keep your eye on our blog, YouTube, Twitter and Facebook pages as we will be updating them regularly with the latest developments.
